DSL
(Digital Subscriber Line) is an affordable Internet access solution
that provides a 24/7/365 connection to the Internet at speeds of 3Mbps x 768 Kbps which is nearly 60 times faster than Dial Up. As it does not require a separate
telephone line—subscribers can talk on the telephone or send and receive faxes while
simultaneously being connected to the Internet—many customers
actually save money by canceling phone lines previously used solely
to make Dial Up connections.
WebPerception
offers DSL in Novato, Los Gatos, and Morgan Hill. WebPerception is based in Novato, CA
PLEASE SUPPORT YOUR ONLY LOCAL AND PRIVATELY OWNED ISP!!!
We recommend
DSL to individuals or small companies that need a continuous, reasonably
reliable connection to the Internet at an affordable price, and
who value personal attention and exceptional support.
All DSL connections
come with one Static IP number and more can be acquired.

To Install the
Hardware Yourself:
Install the network card in the PC according to your computer's
manual. A quick synopsis of the procedure is below:
- Unplug computer.
- Remove case.
- Select a free ISA or PCI
slot and remove the metal cover beside the slot.
- Touch a metal object to
discharge any static electricity.
- Press the card into the
slot until it drops into place. Do not be afraid to push.
- Use the screw removed from
the metal cover to attach the card to the case.
- Replace case.
- Install the Ethernet Drivers
- Boot computer. While booting,
Windows 95 will detect the new hardware and configure it.
- If you installed a 3Com
PCCARD Ethernet card: Windows 95 does not come with a driver
for this card. When it is detected, you will either be presented
with a dialog box and three options or with the Device Driver
Wizard. Insert the Driver Disk in your floppy drive
and click 'OK', or 'Next' then 'Finish'. This will load the
proper driver on your system. Unfortunately, Windows can sometimes
become confused as to where the files it needs are. If you are
prompted for the file eplc3.sys, enter 'A:\'
in the Location box; otherwise enter 'D:\WIN95' or the location
of your Windows 95/98 install media (it may be stored in the
drop box).
- When the Desktop appears,
open the Control Panels (Start=> Settings=> Control Panels)
and open "Network."
- Remove NetBEUI from the
list: (This is very important!!)
- Highlight NetBEUI (if there
is more than one instance you will have to repeat step 4 for each
one)
- Click "Remove..."
- Remove IPX/SPX from the
list: (Skip this step if you have a Novell server on your network)
- Highlight IPX/SPX (if there
is more than one instance you will have to repeat step 5 for each
one)
- Click "Remove..."
- Remove Internet Connection
Sharing from the list:
- Highlight Internet Connection
Sharing
- Click "Remove..."
- Add TCP/IP to the list:
- Click "Add..."
- Select "Protocol"
and click OK
- Select "Microsoft"
in the left list and "TCP/IP" in the right list and
click OK. The Ethernet card will show up on the following window.

- Double click on the TCP/IP
Ethernet card and it will bring up the following Box:

- Look for your IP address
on the sign-up sheet and fill it in the box next to IP address.
- Now look for your Subnet
Mask on the sign-up sheet and fill in your subnet mask.
- Now click on the Gateway
Folder and type in your Gateway address as shown on the sign-up
sheet.
- Now click on the DNS Configuration
and you will come to the following window.

- Type in all the info as
shown on the following box, after you are done click OK. Windows
will prompt you to restart. Click "OK" to do so. You
should be online once the computer comes back on.
If your computer
does not connect to the internet and you have found that your modem
has only ONE light lit (please power it off and back on to double-check)
then telephone Verizon's ADSL Help line at 866.490.1788 as they will
need to reset your card at the Central Office (CO). Please feel
free to have Verizon conference us in- just ask them to do it and
they will.
